This photo was taken by William R. Curstinger. This was actually a photograph taken in Patagonia, Argentina. I think this photo was made because the photographer wanted to catch something that hard to get a snapshot of. If you've ever tried taking a snapshot of lightning, it doesn't always come out right, but when you do, you sometimes get these cool looking designs. Personally, I like the way lightning looks during a thunderstorm. So basically, this photo might have been made to show you what the eye can't really see.

My first impression of this photo was, "Oh, hey! This little boy looks so cute and innocent! I wonder what his story is?" because I found this photo looking through the National Geographic website under "One World, One Tribe." I thought the gallery would just show different tribes of people, so I didn't think it would be anything bad. Just photos showing us what the tribes were like. This photo was taken by Reza,
AÏNA. (Aina, is some sort of humanitarian group). When you read the caption of the photo, it tells you that they boy's father had disappear from the beginning of some war and his mother has been taking their family from village to village in search of her husband. In the end, it says that the boy actually doesn't know that he is about to reunite with his father. I think this photo was taken to give you the impression of an innocent child, but then when you read it, you kind of feel bad that he hasn't seen his father in forever.

This photo was taken by Sam Abell. It is a picture of a gondola ride in Venice. I think this photo was made to make things look more appealing, like a tourist attraction. The use photos like these as visual aides to make people want to come visit their countries. These kind of photos would probably be used in brochures or travel guides. The people taking a ride in the gondola are actually newlyweds.
