For this assignment, I chose to photograph Philadelphia's Magic Gardens.
There is a church next to the Magic Gardens who also had a mosaic effect created on their wall. Though I am not religious myself, the wall is absolutely beautiful. I cropped the photo so you could not see the beginning nor the end of the sentence. I feel the pieces of mirror and glass frame the quotes as well.
This picture is very similar to the first in that it is the same subject matter and the angle is similar, although I was much closer to the wall. However, there are slight differences. Obviously, it is a different part of the wall. The exposure time was a bit slower, making the picture slightly lighter. Again, the bits of glass and mirrors frames the words nicely.
For this photo, I decided to take it at an angle. I decided to lean to the right to put the focus on the face, rather than the rest of the wall. Though the focus is on the white blocks, the differing colors in the back are not lost.
This time, I chose to angle the photo by looking up. Though the focus is meant to be on the sign, the wall manages to catch your eye as well. [I digress... I found the placement of the sign amusing. It is covering up one of the most amazing pieces of art I have ever seen. They could have put that sign anywhere, but they chose to cover a portion of the wall.]
I found this part of the wall intriguing. I'm not sure if the mirror was broken on purpose or if it happened after the wall was complete. Either way, I like it. I think it serves as a symbol for many different things. I chose to get very close to the mirror to show all it's imperfections.
