I chose this picture because I found it on a link online. At first when I saw this, I felt sad that these children had to wash their clothes in the river and how they looked like they lived in severe poverty. I read on and learned that this picture was taken to show what life was life for the children of Africa. It talked about how poverty stricken they were, but also how thankful they were just to have clothing and a place to wash.

This is another image I found on the internet, and when I first saw it, I thought about how cute the elephants were and how I wish I could see one in real life. Then I found out that this picture was taken for an article that talked about how elephants appear to be calm and gentle, but they actually kill many people in Africa. I was shocked and amazed when I learned this because I never would have been able to tell, looking at this picture.

This picture is of a tiki statue in Hawaii. When I first saw this picture, I thought that it was of a fake tiki at a hotel; some sort of tourist attraction or hotel "accent". It was nice when I actually found out that this is a real tiki at a refuge on Hawaii. It is an ancient wood carving and is on land that is preserved by its native people.
